Letterbox plaques — Zermatt
Chalet and letterbox plates for Zermatt, engraved in Switzerland and shipped to a car-free village.
Zermatt is car-free, which changes the last hundred metres of any delivery: parcels arrive by electric vehicle or on foot, and an address without a chalet name is genuinely hard to find. That is why nearly every building here carries a name rather than a number, and why the name plate is not decoration but the address itself. We engrave chalet names, family names and apartment numbers for the same plate when a building is split between owners.
Which material at this altitude
Above roughly 1,500 metres the sun is harsher and the freeze–thaw cycle runs most of the year. Two consequences. Black and coloured anodised aluminium loses depth faster here than on the Plateau, so we steer alpine orders towards natural silver anodising, brushed stainless steel or brass. And black acrylic, excellent indoors, becomes brittle outdoors under repeated frost — a screw hole intact in October can craze by spring. For an exterior plate at this altitude we fit brass or stainless steel, and nothing else.
Ordering from abroad
Most plates we engrave for this village are ordered by owners who are not in Switzerland that week. Photograph the letterbox or the door with something for scale — a bank card works — and we identify the model and the plate size from the picture. We ship to the chalet, to your caretaker or to your management company, and we can hold delivery until a date you give us.
Why owners here choose SwissPlaques

Questions
Can you deliver to a chalet that is empty most of the year?
Yes. We ship to a caretaker, a management company or a neighbour, and we can hold the parcel until a date you give us. Registered post is included; DHL Express is available if you need it before a specific arrival.
What if I do not know the letterbox model?
Send a photograph with something for scale next to it. Swiss letterboxes are brand-specific and we identify the model and the exact plate size from the picture.
